beware the thin edge of the heels - wears out very quickly Jul 13, 2010 I've been wearing Timberlands for a few years now and find them very comfortable and they look great too. However the men's leather shoes have one major design fault: the edge of the sole is thin. As you can see if you zoom the pics on Amazon, the sole has raised areas which are quite thick, but the edge of the sole is actually very thin. This is a problem on the heel; as you walk, it is the edge of the heel which touches the ground first, and if the rubber is very thin there, you will wear it out quickly. I had to re-sole my Timberlands after just a few weeks! The rest of the shoe was in perfect shape, but the edge of the heel had worn away completely. This is a basic design flaw and I will look very carefully at the soles of any Timberlands I buy in future.
good everyday oxford Mar 19, 2010 This is good shoe. Very comfortable. The sole is designed for inclement conditions but at the same time has some type of gel material that makes it soft on the feet. Unlike many mass produced shoes the sole is stitched to the uppers with sturdy threading. So far the shoe is waterproof as advertised. It's still to early to comment on their durability. The shoe fits true to size.
Outstanding Shoe! Feb 11, 2010 I purchased the Black colored shoe. These shoes exceeded my expectations. Very comfortable, water-proof, feel good all day and look good for both casual and dress. The shoes initially feel a bit heavy but I quickly got use to that and they provide me with good stability which I can use at my age of 78. These shoes are another great Timberland product.
Seller was Grapevinehill via Amazon. Grapevinehill shipping was free and they shipped 2nd day FedEX. Super seller!
Dress-casual for bad weather days Feb 12, 2009 I live in Boston, where the weather isn't always the best. In the winter, there's a lot of snow, and the sidewalks aren't always cleaned off when I want to go outside. These shoes are nice enough to wear with dress slacks in most situations, yet are warm and waterproof. On those days when I need to dress more formally, I'll wear Totes over my dress shoes. But short of that, I'm comfortable wearing these as my winter shoes.
What's more, I have flat feet, and these shoes have a real separate heel that helps my legs and back align properly, rather than a tennis-shoe style sole in which the heel is just a bump in one piece of plastic.

Highest rating Jan 08, 2009 l'm 54 years old and spend a lot of time on my feet. These Timberlands are extremely comfortable and my girlfriend thinks they're the "cutest" shoes l own. l agree with the other reviewer that $125 is too high a price however. l found them on sale at Nordstrom for $79 so bought a pair each of brown and black (still available as of today at that price). Now l'm all set.
